Cosmetic tattooing is the process of implanting coloured pigment into the dermis layer of the skin by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes, makeup, or to enhance the natural features of the face.

Anyone and everyone who wants to experience the brilliance of semi-permanent make up as It makes you look younger, fresher and gives you confidence.

Permanent makeup is ideal for people who have difficulty applying makeup, sportspeople or people who are living with hair loss, cancer, vitiligo and scarring. It’s also popular amongst people who are sensitive or allergic to their normal makeup.

The length of time that semi-permanent make up will last is entirely dependent on the individual and factors such as skin type, medication etc.

Client after-care and the body’s own cell regeneration rate can differ from person to person which is why a definite time can’t be put on how long the pigment will last in the skin, but on a whole semi-permanent makeup treatment last anything between 1 to 3 years

Over time the colour will fade away so to keep your semi-permanent make up in tip-top condition with true colour retention we would recommend a colour booster every 12-18 months, this comes at a discounted rate if kept within the correct time frames.

Your treatment time may vary on the area or areas you are having treated but generally you will need to give 2 and a half hours for your appointment.

You will always need to come in for your top-up treatment, this is anything from 4-8 weeks after your initial procedure. This is to achieve the right result as the pigments may be absorbed and need topping up.

At the second treatment, I will assess the colour retention and adjust as necessary. Everybody heals differently and at different rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry, I can always go darker and add more density at your next appointment.

Some people experience a little swelling or redness straight after their treatment, this usually goes within 24 hours. You will usually feel the pigment looks darker than you expected, this is completely normal.  After a few days the surface colour naturally exfoliates to leave a softer colour. After 7-14 days, the colour will lighten, often more than you want it to, which is why you will need your top up.

Some clients feel no discomfort at all, others feel minimal discomfort.

To start your appointment a topical anaesthetic will be applied for about 30mins prior why you go through your consultation.

Once we start the treatment, we use a anesthetic gel throughout to ensure you are extra comfortable this is what you are patch tested for along with the pigment prior to treatment. Once the procedure is complete there is no discomfort whatsoever.

After a procedure the area treated will be darker and more intense. This will last for a few days until the area exfoliates and the true colour emerges. Generally, it is only you who notices the darker colour. If anaesthetic is used, you may swell slightly, this will go down usually by the end of the day. It is suggested that if you are having an eyeliner procedure your eyes may be a little swollen for the remainder of that day.

You will be given a full after care guide after the treatment, along with verbal and written instructions and cream to apply when necessary.

In the initial two weeks extra care should be taken not to expose the treated areas to strong UVA rays, chlorine, salts and saunas, as these will reduce the life of your treatment. The results will last on average 1 to 3 years and sometimes longer. As an on-going precaution we would recommend a total sun block on the treated areas when going on sunning holidays and when using artificial tanning aids since the UVA will eventually bleach out the pigment.

Semi-permanent make up does not affect the hair growth or colour in any way, It only colours the skin under the hair, so depending on your natural hair colour and growth will depend on your brow grooming regime.

You may have specific requirements for semi-permanent make up such as scars, alopecia, trichotillomania, chemotherapy, vitiligo, loss of sight or other health related concerns. Semi-permanent make up is an extremely beneficial and very successful solution to these types of medical concerns.

On booking your appointment you will then receive either a face to face consultation and patch test or you can opt to have the patch test sent in the post before your initial appointment where we will do a full consultation

Before your main appointment you should

• Bring a few photos with you to your appointment If you have an ideal shape and colour in mind
• It is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 14 days after the procedure If you are planning to go on a holiday
• Avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, Fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen.
• Do not drink any alcohol or caffeine at least 48 hours prior to your appointment.
• If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure.
• It is highly recommended that you avoid SUN and TANNING BED exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure, as your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the pigment with it.
• No tweezing, waxing or shaving of the hair will be required before your procedure. I will draw your preferred brow shape, then remove any unwanted hair.
